SeriesOfTubes101 ::: Favorites Any rating published by a manufacturer is CRANK output. The formula for calculating approximate WHEEL power is (Crank)x(0.85 Manual) or (0.80 Automatic). The same formula applies for torque. To convert wheel horsepower into crank, you take (WheelHP)/0.85(Manual) or 0.80 (Automatic). If you think that manufacturers are rating wheel horsepower... You really have no idea. A stock S-197 GT has 300 Crank HP and dynos approximately 255-265 stock. SeriesOfTubes101 ::: Favorites This show is bull$#!%. They put the GT500 on a dyno, which measures power AT THE REAR WHEELS, not at the crank. 447/0.85 = 526. wasp010 ::: Favorites The Shelby GT500 is a really nice car. So it doesn't have the handling of a Ferrari... that doesn't mean it can't take a corner any faster than 30mph. I've driven a Mustang GT and it handles fine. Not the best in the world, but that doesn't automatically mean it sucks.
