Paris Hilton was taken from a courtroom screaming and crying Friday seconds after a judge reversed a decision by the Los Angeles County sheriff to release her and keep her under house arrest after she had served only five days of a 45-day sentence. He ordered her returned to jail to serve out her entire 45-day sentence for a parole violation in a reckless driving case. The hearing had been delayed for more than an hour after Paris and her lawyers insisted that she be allowed to talk to the judge by telephone, instead of appearing in person. The judge would not allow it, and ordered a sheriff's deputy to drive to Ms. Hilton's mansion in the Hollywood Hills, where she was handcuffed and brought in. She cried in the back seat of the police cruiser. It's not right!" shouted the weeping Hilton. "Mom!" she called out to her mother in the audience. Hilton, who was brought to court in handcuffs in a sheriff's car, came into the courtroom disheveled and weeping. Paris, in handcuffs, cried after she was placed into a black-and-white patrol car, which sped away from her home with lights flashing as news helicopters pursued, broadcasting live TV coverage. Meanwhile, sheriff's department spokesman Steve Whitmore said the contempt accusation "appears to be another Rocky Delgadillo press stunt." Hilton's attorney, Richard Hutton, implored the judge to order a hearing in his chambers at which he would hear testimony about Hilton's medical condition before making a decision. The judge did not respond to that suggestion. Another of her attorneys, Steve Levine, said, "The sheriff has determined that because of her medical situation, this (jail) is a dangerous place for her." "The court's role here is to let the Sheriff's Department run the jail," he said. he judge announced his decision. "The defendant is remanded to county jail to serve the remainder of her 45-day sentence. This order is forthwith," he said. Hilton screamed. The courtroom was surrounded with eight deputies who immediately ordered all spectators out. Hilton's mother Kathy threw her arms around her husband Rick and sobbed uncontrollably. Deputies escorted Hilton out of the room, holding each of her arms as she looked back. Paris Hilton fans are devastated by ruling. "No! No! No!" Jake Byrd of Chino screamed as a court spokesman delivered the news to reporters outside court. Still, the supporters were loud and prominent as an airplane towed a banner overhead proclaiming, "We Love Paris." Several people who appeared with Hilton in episodes of "The Simple Life" also turned out. She's a pawn in a turf fight right now. It backfired against her because she's a celebrity. She got a harsher sentence because she was a celebrity. And then when her lawyer found a way out of jail, there was too much public attention for it to sit well with the court. The struggle between the judge and the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department, which runs the jail, incited indignation far beyond the attention normally paid to a minor criminal matter. In a news conference on Friday, Mr. Baca said Ms. Hilton "had a serious medical condition," though he declined to say what it was. Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca says "the criminal justice system should not create a football" out of Paris Hilton's status. In a news conference, Baca defended his decision to release Hilton to home detention Thursday, citing jail crowding and what he described as "severe medical problems."Baca said Hilton received a more severe sentence than the usual penalty for such a crime, but he said he would not try to overrule the judge's decision again. Barbara Walters said she has visions of the hotel heiress co-hosting on "The View."he city bakery in Brentwood Country Mart has cooked up a plan to free Paris, sort of: cupcakes with a custom nail file in the middle. The nail file is actually a popsicle stick. The bakery manager says the Paris visitor's cakes are a big hit, selling at five bucks apiece, and none of the proceeds will be donated to Paris.
