Wow that is a total variation of an arm wave. But I guess it's easier for beginners, the arm wave I do has like 6 counts/steps for an arm.

definitely! give them a taste of the whole style so they can see what kind of levels it can go to. Maybe you should get some tutorials up there. Peace

And yeah you're right but it's different when you actually know how to wave. Because then it becomes a flow, whereas for beginners they go move by move. I also agree that we shouldn't feed beginners, but I also believe that we should give them the whole concept when teaching them (in this case the arm wave). Feeding would be giving them every concept (different traces, carrying waves, levels with waves etc.) without letting them experiment themselves.

...There are more parts to my waving tutorial but I find that you shouldn't feed a beginner too much otherwise knowledge is wasted. I need to upload the other parts and explain it as when I uploaded it it was when I first saw youtube and did it as a test. thanks a lot for the comment - you sound educated in the dance style

Not really breaking the rules but I get what you are saying. If you stand still and do a proper wave then yes, leaving your arms/any body part there is important in achieving a good illusion, but, when you are freestyling if you did that every time your freestyle would look mundane after 2/3 waves, do you agree? I do agree with what you are saying but the wave I did does achieve an illusion and is easier than the wave you are talking about hense the 'total beginners'...

decent tutorial for beginners, but you yourself are breaking a cardinal rule of waving, which is don't drop your arms. After the wave travels through a body part, that body part should end up in the exact same position it was in before the wave travels through it. It's science.
