mistaspot1 ::: Favorites Totally off topic but this point was made by angrylittlegirl... my mom passed away in 99 from lung cancer. she never went to church or anything. it's not that she was an athiest or anything it's just something she never gave much thought. now my dad is an extreme catholic who goes to school 7 days a week. they were married for 20 years, and in the afterlife they will be in different places, 1 in heaven, 1 in hell. how can heaven even be heaven when you know someone you loved is in hell? 07-08-04 01:43:10 _____________________________________________________
chrisman737 ::: Favorites mistaspot1, allow me to express my condolences. For what it is worth, the Catholic Church would not say definitively that your mother is in hell. The Church's teaching are clarified in Vatican II, which says that those who have been born and raised with a totally different way of looking at faith (even without going to any kind of Church at all) may still be saved as long as they do their best to live a good life. So the Catholic Church says that your mother could very well be in heaven. 07-08-04 09:09:18 _____________________________________________________
mistaspot1 ::: Favorites Interesting. That's contrary to what I thought. Personally, I don't believe in hell, so I know she's not there. There's no scientific explanation of either heaven or hell. I was just pointing out a paradox that exists in the catholic teaching. One of many. 07-08-04 14:10:30 _____________________________________________________
purgingflame ::: Favorites condemning paedophile priests is correct, condemning the catholic church for whatever evils have gone on or are going on either actually or in 1's perception is 1's entitlement- advocating use of whores is dispicable & treats women as objects. this is not taking from the msg about evil in catholicism - it is adding to it 07-08-04 17:57:06 _____________________________________________________
